Michael Hancock
Michael Hancock is Strata’s Vice President of Organ Recovery.
In 2012, Michael played a foundational role in the inception of Keystone Perfusion Services, working closely with Louis Verdetto to provide locum tenens perfusion coverage while simultaneously developing full-service perfusion programs throughout the Northeast. Under his leadership, Keystone grew into one of the nation’s leading perfusion staffing providers, supporting many of the country’s top cardiac surgery and ECMO programs.
Beyond staffing, Michael spearheaded Keystone’s global ECMO patient rescue initiative, partnering with air ambulance providers and health systems to safely repatriate critically ill patients on ECMO back to the United States. This program leveraged Keystone’s experienced clinicians to ensure continuity of care and safe international transport.
In 2022, Michael led the Keystone team in launching the Organ Recovery Service Line, with a focus on advancing Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP) for organ donors nationwide. Working closely with Dr. Scott Silvestry, Shannon Barletti, and Alex Chappell, he expanded Keystone’s transplant capabilities to include comprehensive thoracic and abdominal surgical organ recovery services for Organ Procurement Organizations and Transplant Centers.
Today, the Organ Recovery Service Line at Strata stands as the premier third-party provider of comprehensive organ recovery solutions, offering NRP and machine perfusion support to more than 60 organizations across the transplant community. Michael and the Strata team remain focused on expanding OPO and transplant center partnerships while advancing the field of transplantation—recovering more organs and improving outcomes for patients on the transplant waitlist.
Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree from Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, in 2006, and went on to complete Cardiovascular Perfusion training at Cooper University Hospital, graduating in 2009. Following graduation, he returned to Cooper as a staff perfusionist, where he also served as Co-Director of the Perfusion School—reflecting his long-standing passion for perfusion education and clinical training.
