
Dr. Scott Silvestry
Dr. Scott C. Silvestry is Strata’s Chief Surgeon. He is a nationally recognized cardiothoracic surgeon and physician leader with deep expertise in advanced heart failure surgery, heart and lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and donor organ recovery innovation. At Strata, Scott provides clinical leadership, surgeon engagement, and strategic oversight for next-generation organ procurement and perfusion services.
Dr. Silvestry is the Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Jack Copeland Endowed Chair at the University of Arizona.
Throughout his career, Dr. Silvestry has built and led comprehensive programs in heart transplantation, durable and temporary mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, and complex cardiac surgery. He is widely recognized for advancing care at the intersection of surgery, systems design, and technology adoption—particularly in donation after circulatory death (DCD), normothermic regional perfusion (NRP), and emerging organ preservation platforms.
At Strata, Dr. Silvestry focuses on developing clinically rigorous, ethically grounded, and operationally scalable recovery models. He works closely with surgeons, perfusionists, OPO leadership, and transplant centers nationwide to standardize best practices, improve organ utilization, and support high-quality outcomes across diverse donor environments.
Dr. Silvestry is a prolific academic author, peer reviewer, and invited speaker, with publications spanning heart failure surgery, transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and donor management. He has mentored surgeons and multidisciplinary teams nationally and internationally and is known for a pragmatic, surgeon-first approach to innovation—ensuring that new technologies are clinically sound, operationally feasible, and aligned with the realities of transplant care delivery.
