Time Critical Logistics

Expedited Ground Transport

Dedicated vehicle. Direct route. Every mission.

Dedicated, expedited ground transport for time-critical medical, pharmaceutical, and industrial cargo. From the airport to the receiving desk — or origin to destination — on your schedule, in a dedicated vehicle.

Air charter and commercial flights deliver cargo to airports. Expedited ground transport is what connects those airports to the facilities that need the cargo most — hospitals, surgical suites, nuclear medicine departments, clinical trial sites, and manufacturing lines.

WHAT IS EXPEDITED GROUND TRANSPORT?

A dedicated vehicle. One driver. Your cargo only.

Expedited ground transport  also called hot shot trucking, dedicated ground courier, or ground expedite  is the deployment of a dedicated vehicle exclusively for your shipment. Unlike shared freight networks, an expedited ground vehicle is dispatched for your cargo alone, travels the most direct route, and makes no additional pickups or deliveries.

Strata Critical uses expedited ground in three contexts:

Final-mile delivery from air charter or commercial air

When an aircraft lands, someone still has to get the cargo from the tarmac to the facility that needs it. We pre-position or rapidly deploy ground vehicles at destination airports to eliminate the wait between wheels-down and door delivery.

Regional point-to-point

When origin and destination are within driving range and ground transport can meet the delivery window, a dedicated vehicle is often faster than coordinating a flight — especially for cargo with size, hazard, or packaging constraints.

Multi-modal mission completion

Expedited ground transport is the connective tissue in complex logistics missions. A charter lands, a courier delivers to a hospital, a ground vehicle positions the courier to the next leg. Strata Critical coordinates all three modes as a single managed mission.

WHY DEDICATED GROUND MATTERS IN MEDICAL LOGISTICS

Shared Freight Networks Weren’t Built for a Half-Life.

Commercial courier networks operate on volume-based routing that introduces stops, transfers, and unmonitored custody gaps. For medical and pharmaceutical cargo, those gaps are clinical risks, not logistical inconveniences.

Examples of where dedicated ground is non-negotiable:

A radiopharmaceutical dose lands at the regional airport. The hospital is 40 minutes away. A shared courier has two other stops en route. A dedicated vehicle is dispatched before the aircraft lands — the dose arrives intact and on schedule.
An organ recovery team completes procurement at a donor hospital. The organ must reach the transplant center within a defined ischemic window. A dedicated vehicle is standing by before procurement is complete.
A clinical trial site receives an IMP shipment via commercial air. The sponsor’s SOP requires person-verified custody for final-mile. A dedicated courier vehicle with documented handoff is dispatched.
How A Charter Works

One call. One plan. Every mode managed.

When you call about a charter flight, our dispatch team is simultaneously planning the ground transport at the destination. When a commercial air shipment is booked, we’re pre-positioning a courier vehicle at arrival.

A typical coordinated mission:

1

Origin pickup

Dedicated ground vehicle picks up at origin.

2

Planeside tender

Vehicle delivers directly to aircraft planeside.

3

 Charter flight

Aircraft departs; dispatch monitors in real time.

4

Destination ground staged

Ground vehicle pre-staged at arrival airport.

5

Final delivery

Ground delivery direct to receiving facility with custody documentation closed at final signature.
